If you love K-pop and want to bring some of that spark to your desk, this DIY pencil holder is a simple and creative project to try. Made from foam board and decorated with printed images, it’s a cute way to organize your pens and add a touch of fandom to your study space.

For this craft, you can use any graphics you like, and I’ll show you how to arrange them on a printable sheet so they’re easy to cut out and add to your pencil holder.

I’ll be using my K-pop Clipart Set, which is available on Etsy. It includes 34 graphics inspired by the Korean music scene, plus 13 digital papers. For this project, I picked a few favorites to print and mixed in extra craft supplies like plastic gems and paper cutouts to style it up. You can check out the full set in my Etsy shop:

Make a DIY K-pop Pencil Holder

This craft is great for tweens to make on their own, and younger kids will enjoy decorating it too—just keep in mind they’ll need help with cutting the foam board. Below you’ll find the step-by-step instructions for creating your own DIY k-pop pencil holder.

What you’ll need*:

• White foam board (I used 5 mm thick)
• This pre-measure template for cutting the foam board (optional)
• This K-pop clipart set (or other graphics / printable stickers you like)
• Sticker paper for printing (or regular paper + some glue)
• Glitter paper sheet
  
• Star paper punches
• Plastic craft gems
• Colorful paper / cardstock
• Craft knife
• Paint
• Ruler
• Glue

Steps:

1. Start by making the box:

Cut the foam board into 4 panels sized 10.5 X 14 Cm (4.13” X 5.51”).
If you don’t feel like measuring manually you can use this template. Just print it out and use it as a stencil.

2. Glue the panels together to make the walls of the box. Take a look at the picture to see how the ends of the walls meet up:

3. Place the frame of the box on a piece of foam board and trace the bottom with a pencil. This will be the floor of the box.
Cut the bottom panel out of the foam board and glue it to the box. 

4.  I pasted stripes of paper along the box’s corners to cover the uneven cuts of the foamboard. It makes the box look nicer and it’s easier to paint over it later.

Here is how it’s done:

A. Cut 4 stripes of paper (about 1” or 2.5 CM wide). Make sure they are longer than the height of your box.
B. Fold each stripe of paper into half, lengthwise.
C. Glue the stripes along the corners of the box.
D. Trim the tops of the stripes, then fold the excess parts into the box and glue them to the inside of the walls. 

5. Paint the box. Get creative! I used a piece of paper to make geometric shapes. I covered one part of the box with the paper and blocked in each color separately.

6. Print your stickers. I chose some graphics from my K-pop clipart set, but you can choose any graphics that fits the k-pop theme. Think of music, Korean fashion, cute accessories and everything sparkly ✨
Below you’ll see an easy way to prepare your chosen graphic for printing.

Here is how to use Microsoft Word to scale your stickers and see how they would fit in your pencil holder:

A. Open a new Word file. Insert the image of the box’s template and the PNG files of the graphics you’ll turn into printable stickers.

B. Make the sticker images go on top of the box’s template: click on the sticker image and then go to Layout -> Warp Text -> In Front of Text.

C. Scale the sticker image by pulling the corners of its bounding box. You can also set precise dimensions by clicking on Picture Format on the top bar.

D.If you want to flip a sticker, like I did with the heart sticker, click on the sticker and go to Picture Format -> Arrange -> Rotate -> Flip Horizontal.

E. Once you have your printable stickers set, remove the box’s template and print the page on sticker paper.

7. Time to decorate! Mix your printable stickers with other decorations to make your K-pop pencil holder sparkle. Glitter paper and star-shaped paper punches look great! Play around with adhesive plastic gems and pearls to get those glamorous K-pop vibes!
